• Thursday 15 June 2023 Father's Day Event Thank you so much to all our current and future families who attended the Father's Day Event.
• Friday 9 June 2023 Football Team Report - 9th June 2023 A fantastic game from both sides. We welcomed back Sam and Alise who missed our last few matches. It was a very calm start from the team. Alise and Finley were very composed on the ball and this allowed us to get control of the game. Codey continued to be at his excellent best making a few brave saves, rushing out at the attackers. We were unlucky to concede early on but this didn’t stop us. The attack of Josh, Alise, Sam and Iwan created lots of pressure, winning the ball up the pitch. Some great passing created a few chances but we didn’t manage to score. George came on after 12 minutes and got our equaliser 1-1! A shot from distance was powerful enough to beat their keeper.Second half! We dominated the first 15 minutes. A great run, turn and shot from Josh (video 1) put us in front 2-1! A few minutes later and we had another. Iwan striking the ball into the bottom corner 3-1! Excellent calm defensive play from Ollie and David kept us in control. Matas came on with Jacob
• Friday 19 May 2023 Football Team Report - May 19th 2023 Whitefriars vs St Martha'sOur second game of the season, we played two St Martha teams, one in each half.The first half ended 3-3! We were a real threat on the counter attack. The defence of Ashton and David threw everything at the St Martha attack. We were unlucky as a couple of the shots were rebounds from excellent saves from Codey. Brilliant assists from Iwan and even Codey from goalkeeper! Josh, Iwan and Jacob scored near identical goals, sprinting past the defence and striking the ball past the goalkeeper. We created more chances in the first half, with great passes and runs from George. Finley and Ollie came on in defence and showed excellent determination. Oliver put excellent determination and effort in the middle of midfield.Second half we conceded 3 goals, losing the match 6-3, the fresh players having the edge. We were very unlucky, creating lots of chances and missed a penalty. A fantastic effort from all the children, with a smaller squad of player, they gave it their all
• Saturday 13 May 2023 Mini Monsters visit - Year 3 Last week Year 3 were visited by some mini monsters. They were all given the chance to hold snakes, millipedes and spiders and giant snails!
• Friday 12 May 2023 Coronation Picnic 2023 To celebrate the coronation of King Charles III we planned a big family picnic on our field. However, the Great British weather meant that we had to move the event inside and cancel the invitation for families to join together.
• Friday 5 May 2023 Football Team Report - May 5th 2023 Match Report - Whitefriars vs South Wootton.We had our first fixture last night. We played a strong South Wooton side who had played fixtures together before.A slow start to the game for us, under a lot of pressure from SW, in the 3rd minute Codey made a brilliant save followed by a last ditch block from Ollie. Unfortunately we conceded a great goal and went 0-1 down. With more brilliant defending from Ashton and Jacob, we stayed in the game. We managed to counter some attacks with some driving runs from Josh, who held the ball upfront excellently.After a wonder save from Codey, tipping the ball on to the crossbar, we had a lovely passing move between Jacob and Sam, Sam then played a lovely through ball to Josh, who powered the ball into the bottom corner! 1-1.We had a couple of promising moments in attack with Josh having some good shots on target. We managed to be level at half time .Straight after half time we conceded, 1-2 SW. We were determined and pressed the ball more. Some
• Thursday 15 December 2022 A very merry Christmas to you all What a festive and merry time we have had here at Whitefriars this month! It has been so nice to get back to normal and to invite parents in again after a few years of having to send our Christmas wishes remotely!
• Wednesday 14 December 2022 Christmas Story Writing Competition WRITING COMPETITION WINNERCongratulations to Ted on winning the Russen and Turner Christmas story writing competition! He wrote a wonderful story called: Santa and the Pirates! Yesterday, Ted recorded his story and it will played on Radio West Norfolk on Christmas Day.Ted won £65 of The Entertainer vouchers and £200 of Waterstones vouchers for the school.Well done Ted!
• Friday 9 December 2022 Our wonderful Ofsted report November 2022 Just after half term, Ofsted visited us to complete an ungraded inspection. They spent 2 days in school analysing everything that we do. It was an extremely thorough process which involved: lesson observations, pupil and staff interviews, looking at the children’s books, examining behaviour of the children around the school and more.The report states that if it had been a graded inspection then the school would have been judged as Outstanding (which is incredible!) Ofsted will be returning to the school soon (usually within a year) to complete a graded inspection and hopefully award us an Outstanding judgement!The report is wonderfully positive with so many lovely comments which reinforce what a truly special school Whitefriars is!• Pupils flourish in this highly ambitious and inclusive school.• Pupils in all year groups behave exceptionally well in lessons and around the school. • Friday 25 November 2022 Cross Country Finals Congratulations to the children who represented Whitefriars in yesterday’s Cross Country Finals at Lynnsport. All the children did a fantastic job of challenging themselves and everyone finished in the top 20 for their age group, with 2 of the girls finishing in the top 5.Poppy certainly enjoyed her time supporting from the sidelines and may even have added some additional motivation at the finish line.Well done to all the children who participated at some level during this event, you did yourselves and the school proud.
• Tuesday 18 October 2022 PTA Meet and Greet YOUR PTA NEEDS YOU!The past couple of years have been tricky for our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) due to Covid and the many restrictions imposed.However, we hope that 2022/23 will be a great year for the PTA and we would LOVE your help to do this!If you would like to find out more about how you can help please come along to an informal get together after school (children welcome) on Wednesday 9th November at 3pm.There will be cake as well as toys from our lovely Breakfast Club to keep the little ones entertained!We hope to see you there!
• Wednesday 12 October 2022 Year 3 - Neolithic Britain Trip We’ve had a brilliant day at Gressenhall learning all about Britain in the Neolithic (new) Stone Age! Here’s what we got up to…?? Farming - hoed & ploughed fields and ground wheat using a quern stone.?? Building dens - used teamwork to build dens in the woods out of long sticks, animal hide and string.?? Hunting - learned how to sneak up on and hunt wild animals in a group with a throwing spear.?? Flint-knapping - learning about how flint was used to scrape animal hides clean.
• Friday 7 October 2022 Harvest Festival and Foodbank Donations Year 4 led a fantastic service at King's Lynn Minster and reminded us why we celebrate at harvest time.
• Friday 30 September 2022 Macmillan Coffee Morning 2022 The coffee morning was a great success. We sold cakes which had been donated by our generous families and held a raffle. Later in the day every child was given a piece of cake donated by the PTA.
• Wednesday 28 September 2022 Year 2 trip to Pensthorpe The Year 2 children had a great day at Pensthorpe learning about habitat and food chains.

• Thursday 22 September 2022 Year 5 WW2 Evacuee Trip Wow what a day!Here are a few pictures from our WW2 day at Gressenhall. First, we met in the chapel hall and we were introduced to our leaders for the day. We went to help Mable with the Women’s Land Army. We learned about growing crops and the clothing they had to wear. We then learned about what to do in an air raid. Beware the videos are loud. The first video is an air raid siren warning us of an incoming German bombing run. The second is a warning of a gas attack. We had to take cover in the Anderson shelter! Later, we then practised and completed basic training as part of the Home Guard. We learned how to march, stand at ease and stand at attention! Then we took part in bayonet training. We learned how to hold our rifles and bayonets. We marched to our training area and practised our war cries and attacked the sacks from a tree . We then finished with a shopping trip to learn about rations and a cooking lesson on WW2 ingredients . • Friday 22 July 2022 Year 6 Leaver's Service Our lovely Year 6's did a great job at our church service this morning. They shared their memories of their time here at Whitefriars and sang a great rendition of "Happy".
• Tuesday 19 July 2022 Heatwave 2022! Well done to all of the children who made it into school in the last few days. The children have spend the two days with their new teachers so these days are crucial for transition. Mr Tuckwood walked around the school several times and everyone seemed very settled in their new classes. The children were really sensible and stayed in the shade and drank lots!

• Friday 8 July 2022 Tennis Tournament This morning some of our Year 6 pupils attended a Tennis festival at Lynnsport. There were many matches played against the other schools and victories on either side. The weather was scorching so the children earned their water today.Hopefully we’ve inspired the next generation of Norrie’s and Raducanu’s.Great job everyone.

• Monday 23 May 2022 Jubilee Celebrations On Monday 23rdMay, to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Whitefriars dressed up in red, white and blue and were involved in lots of different activities. In KS1, the children learned a song which they performed in assembly, made crowns and necklaces and decorated flags. In lower KS2, the children identified the commonwealth countries, designed posters using their publishing skills, created their own Andy Warhol artwork and sorted a timeline of photos of key events in chronological order. In upper KS2, the children created a collage of the Queen, took part in a 1950s Sports Day, a history and music quiz and identified where the Queen has visited in Kings Lynn.

• Friday 28 January 2022 Hilltop 2022 After an eventful couple of days in the great outdoors, Hilltop has definitely challengedYear 6andtaken themout oftheircomfort zone.From super swings to rock climbing to zip lining, every activity allowed the children to push beyond their own expectations and the results have been phenomenal.Every single person should be proud of their achievements.
• Wednesday 8 December 2021 Christmas Choir Our lunchtime choir visited Vancouver Quarter twice this weekto perform some lovely Christmas carols. They did a brilliant job with sooooo many shoppers stopping to pass on their compliments.They performed for half an hourin themorning and another half an hourin theafternoon (in the rain!) and raised so much money for the Night shelter! In fact the Vancouver Quarter Director liked the children’s performance so much he offered to triple the donations!!

• Thursday 25 November 2021 Planting fun! Miss Minns & her gardening team ????? have made good use of this afternoon’s sunshine planting bulbs around the perimeter of the school field. This will help to bring some brightness & colour ?? ?? The bulbs were kindly given to the school by one of our neighbours, Mr Loveless. Thank you ??
• Tuesday 23 November 2021 Cross Country Update Well done to the children in Years 3 and 4 that progressed to the Cross Country finals. On Tuesday they were chauffeured to Lynnsport to show off their running prowess.Within both age categoriesthe childrenrepresented the school magnificently and showed real determination. Their final finishing positions are something to be proud off.Well done to all the runners ?????We look forward to the next sporting competition.
• Thursday 18 November 2021 Odd Socks Day 2021 We are all unique! Thank you to everyone who joined in our odd sock ?? day to start off our Anti-bullying week.
• Friday 12 November 2021 Cross Country 2021 Earlier this week, we were fortunate to be able to send 25 children from Year 2 to Year 6 to compete in the annual Cross Country competition at Lynnsport.The last time we entered in 2019, we had 2 children qualify for the next stage, this year we were able to secure 5 top 10 finishes, qualifying for the next stage in 2 weeks, this is fantastic.Even more impressive was that 2 of those finished 2nd in their respective races. A huge congratulations tothem!We look forward to attending in a few weeks and reporting more success from our marvellous marathon runners.Enjoy the pictures of the event.Thanks to all the children for representing Whitefriars and to Mr Youngs, Mr Major, Mr Tuckwood and Poppy for cheering them on.
• Friday 24 September 2021 Macmillan Coffee Morning 2021 Today, we raised funds for Macmillan Cancer Support by dressing in non-uniform with a green theme and selling cakes. The children were all given the opportunity to buy a piece of cake (donated by our generous PTA) at break time and the staff brought in cakes that were sold in the staff room.
• Monday 20 September 2021 Back to School 2021 It is so good to be back at Whitefriars for a new academic year.
• Monday 12 July 2021 Confirmation 2021 On Friday afternoon, 7 of our Year 5 children took place in a lovely Confirmation Service at All Saints Church. 
• Friday 9 July 2021 Art Exhibition 2021 This week was our Art Exhibition at Hanse House. The children worked extremely hard with our Artist in Residence to create some amazing artwork based on this year's theme of "TREES".
• Tuesday 6 July 2021 Year 5 Geography Beach Trip Today the Year 5 children went to Old Hunstanton as part of the Deserted Island topic and to tie in with their Geography work. They looked at the cliff erosion and the beach landscape.
• Friday 2 July 2021 Year 6 Camping We were very pleased to be able to give our lovely Year 6's the opportunity to camp on the school field as they missed out last year, due to Covid lockdown. They had a great time and discovered lots of survival tactics, setting traps and archery. They also enjoyed hot chocolate and toasting marshmallows.

• Wednesday 19 May 2021 Year 3 visit the zoo Wow what an amazing day Year 3 had at Banham Zoo! We had a brilliant time today and saw so many animals!The children all had a lovely time and their behaviour was a real credit to the school. They were also very lucky with the weather. We think they will all sleep well tonight! ??

• Thursday 22 April 2021 Animal Encounters - Y3 The children in Y3 found out about animal food chains in real life! They got up close and personal with a variety of creatures including spiders, snakes and millipedes which were brought into school by Animal Encounters.
• Wednesday 21 April 2021 Class Photos Today the children all looked amazing and gave us their best smiles for Class Photo day!  The photos will be available to order on Parentmail until midday on Friday, 30th April. They are great value at only £5 each.

• Monday 19 April 2021 Timeline of King's Lynn's History In History today, Year 4 looked at key events from King's Lynn's past and put them into chronological order. They were able to create a human timeline to show this.
• Tuesday 13 April 2021 Parts of a Flower In Science, Year 4 looked at the parts of a flower ?? Although they felt bad about dissecting them, we were able to identify so many different parts. The next time you see a flower, see if you can identify the different parts.
• Friday 26 March 2021 Easter at Whitefriars On the last day of term we celebrated Easter at Whitefriars. 
• Thursday 25 March 2021 Whitefriars' Book Day 2021 Today was a lovely day, with all the children celebrating reading and their favourite books. We were amazed at the amount of thought and work that had gone into the costumes, especially considering the fact we are in lockdown!
• Tuesday 23 March 2021 Red Nose Day 2021 We had a great day on Friday 19th March in aid of Comic Relief - Red Nose Day.  The children and staff raised an amazing £420.33 by donating to wear non-uniform with a red theme.

Unfortunately, this week we had to close the school due to the weather conditions... remote learning has still be in place but we have loved seeing photos of all of you having lots of fun in the snow. • Friday 5 February 2021 Children's Mental Health Week From 1-7 February 2021, Whitefriars is taking part in Place2Be’s Children’s Mental Health Week. This year’s theme is EXPRESS YOURSELF. Place2Be has created activities and resources to help children (and adults) to explore the different ways that they can share their thoughts, feelings and ideas. There are lots of resources on the Children’s Mental Health Week website that you can use with your child at home; including activity ideas & tips for parents and carers.
• Tuesday 2 February 2021 Year 4 Rainforest Art Sycamore Class used paints to recreate Henri Rousseau’s rainforest art. Before they did this, they completed a colour wheel to identify the primary colours and tried at mixing secondary colours. They found orange quite hard to mix. Once confident with mixing paint, they painting their rainforest scenes using lots of different shades of green.
• Tuesday 2 February 2021 Year 3 investigate Stone Age poo! Pine Class held an interesting experiment this week as they excavated (mock) Stone Age poo!  They were trying to find out what kind of foraged foods the Stone Age People would have eaten.
• Monday 18 January 2021 Food Technology lessons Every Monday, Mrs Stewart leads a year group in a Food Technology Lesson. The children learn about food prep, hygiene and presentation and get to take their creations home to share with their families.

• Wednesday 25 November 2020 Starting School in September 2021 Welcome to Whitefriars and thank you for considering us as your child’s school. • Monday 2 November 2020 Welcome to our Artist in Residence Every Tuesday, our Artist in Residence, Mrs Rowlands hold art sessions. The children really enjoy these lessons. They get to experiment with colour and various materials. The work they do links to their topic work.

• Monday 14 September 2020 Read Write Inc At Whitefriars we use Read Write Inc. Phonics (RWI) to give your child the best possible start with their literacy skills. Learning to read is the most important thing your child will learn at our school as everything else depends on it, so we put as much energy as we possibly can into making sure that every single child learns to read as quickly as possible. We want your child to love reading and to want to read for themselves.
• Friday 11 September 2020 Rain before Rainbows Today Cedar Class read the story Rain Before Rainbows. 🌧☀️🌈 They thought about how things have been different since our school had to close. They also looked ahead and discussed new beginnings.They each planted a crocus bulb and we hope to see new life growing in our classroom very soon!
• Friday 11 September 2020 Forest Schools This half term Cedar and Hazel Class will be taking part in Forest Schools each Friday with Mr Scarisbrick. The children love to learn more about the natural environment.
